Adding some Chrome-Line to the interior
Got some interior chrome door handles for the coupe from a wrecker. They look good and feel more expensive - heavier feel and spring loaded tensioned.
I've been looking at changing the gear shift knob as well. Suprisingly the Stealers still have stock and they are cheaper than the aftermarket non-original BMW parts (I still can't believe it).
There are two types that are the same style as the original black leather knob:
BMW Part No. 25112492481, Chrome/leather 5 speed, M logo - but be warned the chrome is shiny plated plastic and feels very cheap and shiny.
BMW Part No. 25112229443, Matt-Chrome/leather aluminium metal 5 speed, M logo - I pick it up tomorrow.
I now need to get a quote from a Motor Trimmer to re-skin the vinyl door panels and re-upholster the insert in a black leather/amaretta suede stitched arm-rest, like on the Cabrio models. It's a bit like buying a new car but a whole lot cheaper.

Chrome is in - looks and feels good
The gear knob is originally from the E46 models but still fits the E36 shifter. I feels very good and it is made of metal and leather.
The guy who does the vinyl re-skinning has the vacuum machine for the job and knows what he is doing so the end result should be better than the original factory output. He also has rolls of original BMW vinyl and imports the Alcantara suede material from Germany, so he can do exactly what I want and has quoted AUS$495 per door ($275 for the vinyl re-skin and $220 for the 3 panel leather and Alcantara padded arm-rest insert).
