Who has Highest Mileage Coupes?
Another year or so has gone by, and always curious about maintenance issues. Who among us has put the most miles on a 2.8, 3.0, S52 and/or a S54. I am starting to see M3 S54 cars with well over 100k miles and they seem to be holding up well. Anyone else getting up or above triple digit miles.
It is winter in New England, and as usual mine is hiding in the garage until the spring comes.

Re: My 2.8L is now at 134,000 miles (and)
I bpout it with 84,000 and put a new waterpump in it within a week after I bought the car. I Had a BMW dealer do their 100 point check along with their oil change ritual and they pointed out there was some serious "wobble in my output shaft that holds the fan-blade".
Other than that everything else I have had to do comes down to tires, brake pads, and now I'm on my third MAF sensor(do to me not knowing how gentle they are to clean using a Q-Tip, and then the second time cleaned it with Throttle Body Cleaner(thinking that was the proper stuff, seeing thats where the MAF is located.....but wrong again and it cost me another MAF (used @ $100.00).
other than that stuff the car's been perfectly reliable.
Oh Ya.... these MAF sensor(s) I swear, must be coded diferently or something is different betwen them... My mileage has changed dramatically, from one MAF to another.
I went from 30 MPG (highway) and 25 around town.....to now 20 (highway and around town)
any insight on why this mileage decreased ?
I would apppreciate some feedback on it. The average local driving temperature outside since this last MAF is around 30ish and going down to 10ish that ....being, Farenheit,(and that too sounding like a German) so whats this incompatability issue with respect to bad mileage all of a sudden ?
YEARS BACK in my 1972 BAVARIA, (predecessor to the 5-Series) I had close to 300,000 on my car and it was still as tight as brand new, I ran into a guy with the same car who had over 500,000 on his BAVARIA.
Gas mileage in that was around 12ish MPG.and I had no complaints over it at all...given the power it had, it was a great car. That car was a "tease"... the faster you drove it...the lower it seemed to get to the ground and all it would do was want you to go even faster. 140MPH on the highway around Easter Massachusetts is not very well accepted around here.. finally after some 4 years I traded it towards a 6-Series (grey market 635) with Yokohama's and Bilstein Sports. (dark green body with a white interior... nice car) tranny problems iwht that car. So I took the 5-speed out and dropped in its predecessor 4-speed which was and continues to be a bulletproof tranny. (just don't bang gears and the thing would have lasted is the moral to that story)

Re: Who has Highest Mileage Coupes?
sad to say I only have 45K on the M coupe. (less than 2k miles in the last 2 years).
I've thought about selling it a bunch of times but every time I take it out of the garage to wash it and take it for a spin around the block thoughts of selling it all but disappears. As of right now I'm committed to keep the car and try my best to buy a 2nd house to store the car properly in a properly outfitted garage. Who knows if I can make it happen or not in this economy but it's good to dream.

125,000+ miles on a '99 MCoupe
Great car that I plan on keeping till I die :) I have had a few problems with it, rear floor pan issue was the most significant, other than that regular maintenance stuff. Installed Dinan goodies a while ago, clutch & flywheel, stage 2 suspension. In my opinion the E36 era cars are the best BMW's ever. They are sophisticated enough to be modern but still more machine than computer, nothing like my supercomputer on wheels E90 '06 325xiT.

88k, 01. Not the highest. but up there.
Had the car since new; bought on 10/01 and put quite a few miles on the shoe, 87k to be exact. During that time, I did have a few issues with the car, but most of it happened under warranty.

1) The pinon the right axle was not installed at the factory!! Yikes. I slipped on me once when I was up in Tallahassee visiting. Not a very cool thing to happen when you are 250+ miles from home, and it is late Saturday. Well, luckily Capital Cars was open and they pushed the axle back in, and they thought that was it. Hmmm. Well, it was good for about 1-2 months after Tally, then leaving my now wife's place, the axle popped out again! Well, this time I was non to pleased. Had it towed to Reeves Imports, and they were able to diagnose the problem correctly, and had it fixed within 2 hours or so. Problem never resurfaced.(UW, 2500 mls)

2) Gas gauge got stuck on 3/4 tank, and left me stranded on 75! Grrr. Not a big deal, got some gas from BMW Roadside assistance, then remained vigilant with the gas till I could get the "floater" replaced. Problem never resurfaced.(UW, 3200 mls)

3) Cam Sensor went bad, didn't really notice too much besides sporadic behavior. Was fixed the same day. Problem never resurfaced.(UW, 5600 mls)

4) Rough cold starts. This was annoying, but the dealer had SW update that took care of the issue.(UW, 43000 mls)

5) Flex Disc went, had it replaced with an E46 flex Disc.(NUW, 77,000 mls)

6) Tower mounts, shocks, and bushings went. Had the shocks and springs replaced with Dinan Stage 1, and Tuner Bushings were used in replacement of the worn bushings.(NUW, 82,000 mls)

7) Has a cracked Windshield that will be getting replaced this week.(NUW, 60,000 mls)

The car needs some TLC/Deatiling as it backs away from being daily to look really good. So with that out of the way, here are the pics:
