    Rain sensing wipers

    02 754Li

Rain sensing wipers have quit working. All other wiper settings work fine. No messages on startup. System check says all systems OK. Out of warranty.

When I push the button, the green light comes on and the wipers sweep one time.

Any fuses associated with this feature or anybody else ever have them fail? Looking for ideas before taking to dealer.

    TIA

    Re: Rain sensing wipers

It sounds like they are fine, if there is a issue I believe the green LED indicator will flash.
Has the windshield been replaced? If so is it BMW glass? Many aftermarket windshields have rqain sensors but they dont seem to work well, usually they get bubbles in the lense area cusing them not to work.

I take it you have tested in the rain or sprayed water over the rain sensor once activated?

Does your automatic light sensor still work? It is

combined with the rain sensor on the windshield.

    Thanks for the replies.

Original windshield and yes, my lights still work.

The green light on the stalk stays solid green, the wipers sweep one time and then they are done.

Nothing happens (I am assuming the sensor is on the back of the rear-view mirror).

The sensor for the automatic light system and for

rain sensing is glued to the glass. Spraying water on the glass would test the rain sensing wiper action and covering or uncovering the sensor should test the automatic light on/off action.

Re: The sensor for the automatic light system and for

Similar but not quite same problem. Took it to dealer and tech. removed the fuse, switched on ignition, switched off, replaced fuse and said "there, software reset".
Problem solved and no charge made.

    Which fuse did they remove?

It's interesting you mention that because at/near the same time the wipers quit, my cig lighter outlets quit working too and found those fuses were burnt.

Re: The sensor for the automatic light system and

Sorry I can't tell you which actual fuse he reomoved & replaced, he just referred to "the wiper fuse". I wasn't looking too closely at the time. My original symptoms were total failure of all wiper functions but green light would go on & off with pressing the rain sensor button.
Since then I have intended to look up the relevant fuse in the h/book should it happen again - but of course, have yet to do so !
