    WTB 5spd manual for '87 535i

Has anyone got a 5spd manual they would be willing to part with? Mine is making a terrible racket about 2/3 toward the rear of the box. Thanks in advance, Steve

I think it was after 10 of 86 BMW switched the transmissions from a real sweet transmission to a complicated as a swiss watch POS transmission. I like to call them the "cooling fin" trans becasue the bottom has actual cooling fins. Best to get a better older transmission from a 83 to 10/86 533/535 You will need the different length driveline too.

    You mean a Getrag 265 instead of a 260/6?

I've got that figured out, guys. Thanks. Have you got one of either? Is it only the drive shaft that has to be changed? How much difference is there in the length of the drive shafts for each? Thanks guys.

I know the numbers but number talk and lingo talk annoys me. I know my BMW parts by sight. Its the fastest and easiest way. No you can't mix and match drive lines here. The newer 5 speeds transmissions are longer by a lot. Also keep in mind the shifters are different so you need to swap all the shifter parts too. Good Idea to get all new bushings and what not to keep it tight.
