Car is 1977 E12 based 630 Csi.
I think the piece in the picture (URL)is the Idle Air Valve. (RealOem URL is hg=11&fg=45)

My question is why does this not need to be hooked up and why, when I remove all the narrow vacuum hoses (red, white, blue) that are attached to what RealOEM calls the ELECTR.CHANGE-OVER VALVE BLUE and etc, nothing seems to be affected.

I do have a fast idle problem (1200 rpm) but that is unaffected by connecting or disconnecting these hoses. I realize that this is the Fives Forum but I am hoping you can help!
