    How long do brakes last?

I've got an 07 e90 with 11,000 miles (my first BMW). Brakes started to squeak. I've got low miles but because I don't drive much, not a heavy brake user. Could it be the brake pads are worn out?

Try re-bedding the pads by doing 6 or 7 hard stops from 50mph in a row. (pick a seldom used road). If that doesnt work a lottile anti squeel on the caliper pins or on the back of the break pads should do the trick.

caliper pins? anti-squeal on any other point...

where the steel pad backer contacts the caliper. This, of course, requires removal of the pads. Make sure the pads are returned to the same position (inside/outside). Grease the guide pins while everything is apart

My friend's e38's brakes squeal too.

He's a much mellower driver than I am, quite easy on the brakes vs most folks. One of the shops he took it too suggested he had to re-bed the brakes by a few repeated firm stops like ajoseph stated above. It did seem to help.Prior Cars: 05 M3 SMG, 04 Audi S4, 97 740il, 95 M3 Coupe.
