    Rumor in Roundel

    There was a "rumor" paragraph about this in the last Roundel. YMMV, and it's not certain that it would come to the US/Canada.

    The only rumor about it in Roundel I've seen

    said there wasn't going to be a tii model. I don't remember which issue that was, but IIRC it would have been one of the last 3-4.

    I don't think I've looked at the most recent Roundel yet, but you're saying they're now backing off that comment?

    Page 30, March 2009 issue:
    "Whither tii? Not long ago we heard that plans to launch tii - a high-performance performance subsidiary for 1 and 3 series models - had been put on hold. But now come rumors about a 120i and 135i both powered by twin-turbo engines with four and six-cylinders respectively. Scuttlebutt has both cars sporting carbon-fiber roofs and trunk lids, upbraded suspensions and brakes, and special body components. There's no definiteve word yet about designations - or if they will be sold here. Productions begins in mid-1020."

    I'm not sure what to think.

    And I'm completely confused as to whatever "mid-1020" is supposed to mean, assuming that's not just a typo. And the fact that the statement suggests nobody is even sure it'll be sold here, if it happens at all, isn't real reassuring. Sounds too much like if it does make it production, we'll be left empty handed again just like with the other Euro spec models.

    But thanks for sharing. As I was saying, I still haven't gotten around to looking at the March issue but maybe I'll at least pick it up and check out the article.
