90' 535i x3 all slushboxes
First one wife and I bought at 93,000mi now has 155,000 and has gone to her parents since they needed a car. Wife and I then bought another with 155,000 and now has 267,000miles (wife's commuter car). When my father found out I'll work on it for him he wanted one also. I found him a low mileage 535i 62,000mil now has 165,000. I still do all the work on them. The paint on two of them are horrible but they are very reliable. I know all the common problems and how to fix them . With having to take care of 3 of them I just keep common parts in stock and rebuild a lot of the parts myself. We also have an 88 m6 167,000mi, e39 530i 78,000, got rid of my 85' 735i with five speed at 284,000 miles last year which I'm regretting but just had too many bimmers. Lastly use to own a 81' 528i five speed which was my first bimmer 225,000mi got totaled when rearended. m30 engines have been extremely reliable when basic service is done. I trust and know these engine and don't worry when I go on a long trip since I can fix any problems that come up. Love my e39 with a five speed but with all the electrical I just don't feel as worry free as the older vehicles on long trips.
Been on this board since 98' the original forum that couldn't be saved. I don't post much anymore. Still lurk and read up on what's going on and have to give credit for the helpful hints from others.

89/ 535i 5 spd, 110k, blk on blk leather...
Have been looking for about a year and jumped when this one came up.
One owner, great paint, great interior, came with new Michlen Pilots and a complete brake job. They had no idea what they had and luckily the engine wouldn't start the day they were showing it so the price took a dive. I'm kind of embarased to say how little I paid ...
$2100.00 USD. But since then I've put about $1500 in parts just to make sure it is reliable, water pump, fan clutch, dist. cap & rotor,
wire set, spark plugs, filters, fluids, belts, shocks all around, some bushings.
Lovin it.
