Want to buy S52 M Coupe

Looking for S52 M Coupe, preferably less than 100K miles, but will consider all depending on the price. Would like to get an Imola, Estoril, or Cosmos, but color is less important. My budget: $12-13K. Car must be in continental US. If you have any leads/cars for sale, please post here or email me.

    Thanks!

    you can have mine...for $80,000 :)

in that price range under 100k? good luck...autotrader says zero results found. may need to bump up your budget $5k to find something with less than 100k....<table width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">

Is that the new syndicate pricing structure?

Here I was thinking mine was still only worth $65K :-)

    Really helpful guys.

If I had $18 gees I wouldn't be asking here - they are plentiful for that kind of money.

well that's the market at the moment

not trying to be a d!ck about it, just pointing that out. maybe you'll find a salvaged one in your price-range, otherwise may have to wait for a really high mileage one to appear somewhere. either way good luck in your search.<table width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">

    Re: Really helpful guys.

You post to an enthusiast's board for a very limited production car with a very low ball budget, what did you expect applause? Most of us here will never ever ever sell our coupes. You would be better off expanding your criteria to include the non-M models( which are more in line with your budget and just as much fun) than whining about our apparent lack of help in pursuing your impossible dream.

Best bet is a non-M for that price.

A friend of mine actually bought a non-M for just over $10k last year. It had a bit over 100k on the clock and is evidently running fine at the racetrack. ;)

So, it is possible to find 'em.
But, you have to be willing to analyze and commit quickly when they do come on the market.

We do hope you find one!

Note: The comment about the syndicate is a (semi-)humorous indication of our real commitment to these wonderful cars.

The syndicate is an inside joke that goes WAY back

We've joked for years on this board that we were going to form a cartel to control Coupe prices, that the minimum price would be $65k, and anyone who sold for less would get, among other things, a dead fish sent to them in the mail, etc etc etc....

As for being helpful - you won't find a more helpful, knowledgable group of guys anywhere. Read some of the past posts and you'll soon see what I mean. It's just that in this case, we don't have much info to give you. The few posts are correct in that you're very unlikely to find what you're looking for at your price point. If it does come available, snatch it instantly and don't look back, but you're in for a long wait unless you're willing to either come up in price or down in what you're willing to accept in a Coupe.

Don't mistake any of this for lack of helpfulness - we always want to see new members join our ranks. If you find a Coupe that's distant from you, you probably won't have trouble getting a nearby board member to help out by checking the car out for you. We're here for you, so good luck finding a Coupe and joining us.

Geez, you guys are just a bunch of snobs....

Have you looked at Coupe prices lately? And not the ones they are offered for, but the ones they actually sell for? Come down to earth folks, the economy is not doing too great and car prices are lower than ever.

And to prove you all wrong, I just picked up a very well kept, tastefully modded, accident free Cosmos S52 M Coupe (2000) with 88K miles for the price of $13015. And believe me, there were others in the same price range and even lower, in similar condition and similar miles.

B+B Exhaust (Normal, cans and tips painted black)
H&R, Bilstein, Swapped Front Hats (-3/-1.5 F/R camber, 0 toe all around)
    Ireland green subframe bushings
    UUC TME Red with caps
Racing Dynamics and Energy Suspension Sway Bushings
    Whalen Shift Machine
BMW OEM radiator, water pump, thermostat and housing, coolant, belts, hoses, tensioners, ATE Super Blue racing brake fluid @ 85K, New OEM battery @ 75K.
Rear wiper delete, Redline fluids in trans. and differential.

I really wanted to stay away from this...

..but I will personally answer to you, cause I find this simply unacceptable.

I didn't ask any of you to sell YOUR coupe. I knew exactly what I wanted and I knew exactly what is in line with my budget. That is why I came to this "enthusiasts" board, cause I thought you could point me in the right direction, but was I wrong! All I got here is a hostile responses from snobs like yourself.

Impossible dream? Low ball budget? You are so full of yourself you don't even see what's happening around you. I got my 2000 M Coupe with 88K miles for $13K. Reality check, "enthusiast".

    You must be joking right?

Autotrader is NOT a place to look for cars like that, and you know it. Plus, since when "asking" prices are an indicator of "selling" prices?
Don't get me wrong, now that I have a Coupe I wouldn't mind if the prices would go up and stay at the level they were 2-3 years ago. But that is not reality.

OK, let's all just relax a bit here......

First of all, nice Coupe! I wouldn't have thought it possible at that price range, but obviously it is. Whether or not that's representative of the overall market or an isolated sweetheart deal will be difficult to prove, and it's beside the point in any event. You got what you were looking for, and I for one will be glad to see you stay as a member of this community rather than leave pissed in a name-calling fit. That's not what we're about here. As I said below, this is a great group of guys and a great source of help and information, whether or not we're market experts.

Either way, enjoy your Coupe, and good luck avoiding speeding tickets ;-)

    Kevin,

Yeah, I agree. I had two Z3 roadsters in the past and I was a member of Roadfly Z3 Roady forum for over 6 years. But I never encountered anything even remotely similar to what coupster posted. WTF?
Maybe I just need to get a thicker skin, but that was uncalled for.

    Thanks!

Few more pics for those who cares :-)

I've been looking to buy an M Coupe for quite some time now. Wednesday, the dream became a reality.

With few dead Benjamins in my bag,

I hopped on a early flight to Chicago.

Paul (seller) picked me up at the airport and we went to the nearest parking lot where I inspected the car and we changed ownership. A special thanks goes to Paul for being very helpful and patient throughout the entire process, answering all my questions by email, etc.

At around 10:15 am I started driving home from O'Hare. The car felt awesome. Tight, composed, planted. The tires were a bit hard/noisy, but I didn't care....

First pit stop for some gas/food:

Somewhere between Chicago and St. Louis, the car hit 88888, I thought it was pretty symbolic...

Somewhere between St. Louis and Tulsa:

    Sunset just right after Tulsa:

After I left Tulsa, it started to rain. Thunderstorm was so bad that I had to slow down to 40 mph at times.... It rained all the way to home.

Fort Worth met me with pouring rain and non-stop thunder/lightning, it was surreal!

But finally, at around 3 am, I made it home:

The Coupe desperately needed a wash!

I have inspected and registered the car Thursday, and got the plates.

Lots of stuff planned for the car. Some of the stuff will have to go (like blacked out turn signals and kidneys, and wheels), some stuff will be added, but most will stay as is.

The car is well setup right now. This is not all, but most mods:
Conforti Intake with New Amsoil oil-free filter
    Shark Injector
B+B Exhaust (Normal, cans and tips painted black)
    H&R, Bilstein
Swapped Front Hats (-3/-1.5 F/R camber, 0 toe all around)
    Ireland green subframe bushings
    UUC TME Red with caps
Racing Dynamics and Energy Suspension Sway Bushings
    Whalen Shift Machine
BMW OEM radiator, water pump, thermostat and housing, coolant, belts, hoses, tensioners, ATE Super Blue racing brake fluid @ 85K, New OEM battery @ 75K.
Rear wiper delete, Redline fluids in trans. and differential.

Overall, the word HAPPY is not even beginning to describe it. Its the dream came true.

i know it? autotrader is where i found mine, so no

    i'm not joking.

and if i could talk someone down $5k off their 'asking' price to a 'selling' price, then i think i'd begin to wonder why the seller was so desperate to sell. either he may be hurting, or wants to ditch the car onto someone else...my $.02<table width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
