Been a while. Have a couple questions

Have not had the Coupe for about a year and a half. Been in storage for most the time. Soooooooo happy to have it again!

Q #1 Has anyone had the paint on their wheels peel/bubble? Mine in on one. Not sure if it's been repainted. Will get a closer look and pics later this week.

Q #2 I'm now in Colorado which requires front license plates. I'm leaning on the side of not bothering and taking my chances. Has anyone come up with a creative alternative to the middle of the bumper? Lower? Kinda like how custom bikes relocate theirs.

    Good to be back.

    Colorado?

Sweet! Not many Coupers out here, always good to have another. Where are you located? Let's hook up a drive - the sooner the better!

As for front plates here in CO, I've been five years without one. Been stopped a couple times, but no ticket. Knock wood. I believe it's a fix-it ticket, but don't quote me on that.

Welcome back! - couple of thoughts...

#1) Wheels: just had my 2nd set re-done. They look very good.
There are powder-coat bright silver treatments that look just about exact and are much more durable.
My originals are still pretty good. No peeling - and they're 10 years old, as well as being the earlier version which was notorious for problems.

#2) I've seen one or two who put the plate into the lower grille - would need some "customization" (plate, not grille!). I'd worry about airflow in the hot weather, but ya takes yer chances.
Maybe scraping the ground under the "chin"? ;)
I'm in CA, and have had zero issues without the front plate on the car (fingers x'd).
Keep it under the rear mat, just in case, & have a few tie-wraps handy?

    Great spot.

I fly over your head all the time. I'll be there today, in fact.

I've driven through that area, but I'm not as familiar with that area as with the front range. If you find some tasty back roads, I might have to make another road trip out of it. Otherwise, if you're ever heading this way, I know a ton of great roads.

Re: gone from 1 to now 4 wheels peeling (and)

as for the front licience plate I (when I had it on the car) mounted it to the lower recessed grill... oddly enough when I got pulled over for speeding the officer only walked part way around the front of the car and did not see the plate and wrote me up for no plate even though I mentioned it was there...he said to late now its already written-up.

Now I am just taking my chances and running no front plate...

Personally I have always felt the front plate degraded the appearance of the front of the car. thats why I don't have one on. Plus the car's so unique why do we need a front plate when the car's so out of the ordinary in picking out it as an oncoming renegade being pursued as so they presume, the need for a front plate.

Re: Been a while. Have a couple questions

Both front wheels on my wife's have delaminated so much they are more black than silver now.

I looked in to a wheel repair company here in Portland but they wanted $275/wheel. I'm considering buying a set of aftermarket wheels. Jay

    back of the mirror?

Welcome back. How about mounting on the back of your dash mount mirror? Maybe spring load for when needed?
