    Roll Bar removal

    Hello all,
I am contemplating having my roll bars re-covered with leather. How are they removed. I did see the two screws under the plate for the outside section (but don't know if they are the only ones, and I have no idea about the inside.

If anyone has instructions on roll bar removal would like to see them.

Best to all, great driving weather in North Carolina.

There are screws for the inside post. You must remove the sub and cover to access them. They use the same torx head driver as the outside post.

The sub-cover is the hard part. As I recall it is clipped down to the rear console in four places (2 front and 2 rear).

Sounds like a great project. Let us know how it comes out.

Thanks , I have removed the sub cover and speaker so the rest should be a piece of cake. Is the retire, in your handle, what you are? I'm looking forward to it too, so I can spend more time in my Z.

Don, Where are you in N.C.? I'm in Hendersonville. 20 miles South of Asheville. Trying to find more Z3 owners in my area.

I am in Hickory NC. You sound that you are may not be know about 3 very good local Z clubs. One in Charlotte, Atlanta and Upstate SC. If this is true, send me your email and I will forward their websites to you. There is a lot going on in Z country.

Don, thanks for getting back to me. I am a member of ZSCCA and the Tarheel Chapter BMW CCA. I am finding it difficult meeting other Z owners in my area. Not many on the road or in parking lots. This is a tourist area and those I run down are from other states.

These are all very good Z clubs. Atlanta does some great things that include all of us if we want. So do the rest. The Upstate SC club in close to you too.

Check out the fall foliage drive on the Atlanta site.

I will keep an eye out for your plate when I'm in the area.
