    Re: Steering shake

My 1997 with 127,000 had a shake from 15 to 55 MPH. I replaced the front lower leading control arms. Dramatic improvement. However I still have a 45-55 mph shake under acceleration.

I found this complete set on ebay. This guy list the set for $475 to $575 about 5 times each week. the only thing is you will need a special tool to replace the rear trailing ball joints. I found a mechanic at the local BMW store that helped me out for $40. I got everything ready and he just popped them out and in with his little tool. Try a craigslist ad for a mechanic, or drive around a few neighborhood garages and see if they have BMWs in the lot. There are three Audi, BMW, MB, VW specialist about 10 miles of my house. All are better and 1/2 price.
