Realistic price for my 2002 3.0 Coupe?
Well, sooner or later it was bound to happen. As soon as I knew my wife and I were expecting a baby, I figured at some point I'd have to broach the topic of selling a car. The family fleet has reached a possibly unsustainably high count of four cars, so we're evaluation all the options.
I'm trying to do all the usual searches, but these cars just don't trade in enough volume to get an accurate idea of their value. So what do you think its worth?
2002 Z3 3.0 Coupe, 5spd
Black Sapphire Metallic ext, Dream Red int
~70k miles
Almost completely stock except for Besian D-VANOS fix, upgraded water pump, MZ3 shifter, ZHP knob, and a well-matched aftermarket stereo with Bluetooth, ipod, etc.
Paid ~$21k for it as a CPO about 4-5 years ago.
Not very enthusiastic about selling, but the rest of the fleet is looking non-negotiable to sell and keeping a fourth car just for the occasional weekend drive is looking iffy. Daily delivery of the munchkin to daycare falls to me and baby seat + airbag is a no-no, so selling my Subaru and keeping the Z3 would mean daily-driving a 12mpg van. :(

Sell the van.
But if you must sell the Coupe, I'd say depending on few things, you could probably get $12-14K for it. But realistically, and if you want to do it fast - $10-11K. Its a buyers market, and when you can get an S52 M Coupe with similar miles for $13-15K, chances are this is what you end up getting for your Coupe. So keep it. Sell the van.

Re: Sell the van.
Heh, I just BOUGHT the van. ;-)
The van is being built up to a 4x4 pop-top camper van (think Westy VW or Sportsmobile), so it stays, but I'm hoping to ONLY have to drive it on camping weekends! :)
Now, after a little more research, the plot has thickened a bit. It seems that BMW was (once again) a bit ahead of the rest of the world and after 4/1999 all the Z3's included dual-stage "smart" airbags.
This means I'd feel safe using the Z3C as a daily driver (and baby delivery vehicle) once the munchkin is in a forward-facing carseat.
Looks like the Subaru might get the heave-ho afterall...

Re: Don't sell the Coupe ( I had 5 kids)
I did exactly what your thinking of doing... It would be a shame to get rid of such a unique car... If I were you I'd save the coupe for those special moments in life. Your going to need some time of your own and this car will give you that break in life, to have time to chill out,. If you just jump full heartedly into family life and sell this car you'll have lost this unique quality time, that you presently have for your self and your wife as well. For those get-away weekends etc.
