newbie to the e36 m3
Hi all, I'm new to the e36 and new to M3. Bought my first today and have a couple of problems. I drove it home in the rain and when I shut it off i could hear a very faint (fan?) running somewhere in the dash. Went out a little later and of course the battery was dead and I could still faintly hear that fan running. Sometimes turning the car off seems to stop that fan and sometimes it doesn't. No real rhyme or reason. Also sometimes the key just spins around in the ignition switch and sometimes it works properly. I'm guessing either the heavy rain is shorting something out or perhaps a bad ignition switch. Anyone run accross a similar problem? And how did you correct it? TIA.
Pete

that fan is normal it is inside the climate control unit--but I think it only runs for a few minutes after the car is shut off. the key turning is your cylinder--this is a common issue you have to replace the ignition cylinder...but it is weird your battery is dead and the fan is still running..
