    Oil Pan Gasket Leak!!!

I gave my 98 740i an oil change and went ahead and took off the oil pan to check the oil pump bolts. I bought a new oil pan gasket and replaced everything when I was done.

Now I have an oil leak from the new oil pan gasket. What did I do wrong? Has this happened to you? The leak is not huge, but its enough to drive me insane. Please help!!

Yip, I drop the perfectly sealed pan to check

for loose bolt then end up with leaks on 2 new gaskets. I had to put 2 bead of sealant on the inside area of the gasket on both end to stop the leaks.

    Thank You

Thanks for the info. I thought I would need to use some sealant, but when I read all the postings on checking for the loose bolts there was nothing mentioned about using a sealant. I guess I should've known better. Thanks Again!
