'86 728 Tappets end of adjustment
Hi,
I recently took a 728 in to have the tappets set. I was told that 1 could not be set right as it was at the end of its adjusment. Can anyone tell me what parts I need to fix this and where to get them from?

Never heard of that. There is an eccentric used to
adjust the valves. Take off the cover and inspect it yourself. I would be surprised if the cam lobes were worn out AND the eccentrics were worn out. Read the DIY on valve adjustments on e38.org/e23.

Take a look and see if things are really worn out an out of range. You probably have high mileage if it really is worn. If valve clearance is well out of range you can get oversize eccentric or valve stem lash caps from a number of places. I believe BMP has them.
