    this Coupe forum is useless!

After 2 years of visiting this site...it appears to be dead. The "is anyone still out there" post is like a drawn out cry for a life preserver. I know the Coupe community is small, but this is ridiculous.

This is where the original owners hung out

    This was THE place.

As the cars moved to the used car market there was some overlap since this was the place, but generally, the 2nd- and 3rd- owners ended up finding each other on the other sites.

Yep. Archives in this site are very valuable.

I'm willing to forgive it slowing down.
    Likely happens with most forums.
    Various factors have caused migration.
It's not a chatty forum, but a useful reference, as are a few other sites.

theres gotta be more than "are you still there"

I appreciate the archives, but the site is treated like a nursing home, little if no visitation. It does get more attention in the summer. Am I the only guy who drives a coupe that's not a garage queen?

    I'm driving mine every weekend...

    ...with a smile every time.
Just a reliable car that I'm not really modding or having to fix.
    So, just enjoying... :)

I try not to when there's snow/ice on the roads. Other than that...that's what the traction control and heated seats are for.

Re: I'm driving mine every weekend...

When I lived back East, I used to drive the ol' 1600 all-season, and also did ice-auto-X (waay back when...). It was my only car @ the time. Eventually the rust won.
Certainly would keep the Coupe snug for the winter if I was in the land of snow, ice, and salt.
I miss the clean look of a new snow in the morning.
But, moved West to avoid scraping ice off the windshield.

    Enjoy when you can!

Go to Bimmerforums.com if you're looking for

the liveliest Z3/M Coupe related forum. That's where most of the Coupe guys hang out and chat about their passion these days. Come on folks, if you have passion and enthusiasm about your car(s), show it!

    Other major alternatives are:

-[Oops!] (one caveat: mixing Z3s and Z4s into one subforum causes a good amount of clutter)

    &

    -Z3MCoupe.com (UK based board)

    my take on this...

is that the original group, who have been here for 11 years, have by now said and shared just about all there is to be said and shared. also, many of us have formed friendships in the real world and don't use this forum to communicate. the second-hand owners who come here therefore tend to get referred to the archives - perhaps unfortunately but that's the reality.

keep in mind that during the 4-year production run (2+2) only about 2,500 mcoupes and even fewer z3coupes were sold in the US. at this point i would guess about half remain. which means there are almost as many ferrari F40s in the world.

so yes, this is kind of a 'dead' forum and it's likely to remain that way.

maybe turned more social and less imformative.

I stand corrected. This forum does have a large archive. Just nothing new. Like us, our cars are getting older. You would think there would be more posts in age related topics.

    Original owner herschel here.
    It's been a while since I last posted...like 5 years or so.
My M Coupe needs new tires so I'm getting some Toyo Proxes and also having the original style 40 rims black chromed.
I think that will look pretty sharp on my Imola Red 2002 model w/ 25k miles.
I'll post some photos when the tires & wheels are on the car.Herschel

Post pics when you get the wheels completed?

Dust finish (is this possible?), or gloss, on the Black Chrome? Sounds like a VERY mean combo!

yup, ceptin' when ya got a problem (m)

I've never considered myself an "enthusiast" if it means I gotta "chat" about my car. This board is all about the "wisdom of crowds" rather than cheerleading. But it is dead quiet compared to "in the day"...
