How do you like your X3?

I currently own a Z3, but am thinking of selling it and getting an X3 or a 300 series sedan (had a 325i a few years ago and loved it). I asked my local BMW repair shop today what they think about X3s, and said the only complaint they've heard is that it has a stiff ride. I've had good results with posts on the Z3 forum, so thought I'd ask for opinions here.
BTW, I've read the posts from PPXYZ, and don't find them of any value.
So, any input you can give on likes, dislikes, problems, whatever, I'd appreciate it.
    Thanks.

Re: How do you like your X3?

We have a 2004 3.0 with a 6-speed and nearly every available option. Even with the sport package ride before BMW softened the ride, we still very much enjoy the car, and we're 64 years old. The car was traded for my wife's E36 M3. The car only has about 42K on it, but it has been reliable and has demonstrated remarkable mileage (close to 27 mpg on a couple of long trips and over 20 mpg in short in-town trips for most of its life). We have had no out-of-warranty repairs.

I guess we were never bothered by the stiff ride coming out of three M cars. Our current 750i is certainly more comfortable when we're feeling old, but the X3 is still more fun.

I'm suffering from going so long without buying a new BMW. The new X3 later this year will be in the running, and that comfortable 7 will probably go in trade.

    Thanks

Good input--and we're close to you in age. I figure the ride can't be worse than my Z3, and we do have a Saab SUV for a soft ride. Appreciate your comments.

A lot more info over here-

We have a sport 06 and it handles unbelievably for a sport ute. Great fun to drive, harsh suspension doesn't bother me as I have a sport 528 so am use to it. The newer models have better mileage but our 06 only gets around 14 in town but 24 on hwy.

I have an '06 with manual and sport package and I have no complaints. The ride is firm; that is what I wanted. The handling is superior and the steering very quick. The overall package is hard to beat with its cargo-hauling capabilities and its all-weather sportiness included. I have 32K miles.

    Can't post link

perhaps the admins don't want me sending people to other forums however this X3 forum is dead. Go to [Oops!] dot com and navigate to the X3 section.

    Love it

I have driven my Z3 for 6 years and liked it so much we decided to get the X3 for my wife. What a great car. You will be suprized by the pickup it has and it's handling. The ride is stiff in town but not so noticable on the road. Would I trade the Z3 for the X3 - no but I must admit that it is really fun to drive.
