fuel and temp. guages and check control quit onme

Just got my 1988 735i with only 100k mi.Havent driven yet,and the fuel and temp.guages stopped working.Also,the Check Control is not showing on the cluster.everything was OK execept the language on check control was German?Ichanged plugs cap and rotor and now its gone.I know i need a repair manual,but can anyone help me with this one?I would be very grateful.

You'll need to replace the capacitors on the instrument cluster circuit board. Search archive here for hundreds of posts on this topic.
To change language turn key to position 1 and then hold the right button on the dash for approx ten seconds. Different languages will start to be displayed on the LCD screen, release button when you see the language you want.
