    Manual/Automatic setting

    On my 2001 740il when first starting up it goes into manual mode until you push it back to automatic. Is there some setting that needs to be reset? Before if I put it into 4 it would read that on the dash as "sport" for driving. Now it does not say that anymore. It is not a problem to put it into automatic I am just wondering what it is.

    I had the same problem with my 2000 740i after spilling a drink in the console. I tried cleaning the A M switch, no luck. I had to replace the switch. Cost about $75.00 from Maximillion Importing.
    Very easy plug N play replacement.
