    Valvoline 30w and I have 184k and she still runs strong with only a small drop of oil on garage floor per week.

    Castrol

    Had been useing Mobil1 but was getting leakage from the pan. Don't know if it was front crank seal or not. Switched to Castrol 10W-30 and have had no leaks. Car is a '95 525i with close to 190k on the clock.

    I use 2 quarts Castrol Syntec and 4 quarts Castrol GTX 20-50.

    Using Mobile 1, my '90 535i also dripped oil around the pan.

    Put a 10mm socket on the pan bolts and found that all of
    them were loose! I guess that after 200k mi, the gasket
    contacted.

    After snugging the bolts up, the leak stopped, and now no leaks
    with Mobile 1 after 240k miles.

    I think the front and rear seals are cleaned off with this oil,
    they do not leak at all.

    Now that it is summer I have switched to 20w50.
