They are big and heavy, and expensive.
The I-6 weighs over 4,000 pounds, so the 300 hp engine doesn't push it as fast as the current gen. It's got a great big trunk, though (18.5 cu ft).
Base price is going to top $50,000, and that'll get you vinyl seats. Metallic paints will cost extra, too. So the equivalent to this year's "base" car will be $52k. It'll be easy to boost the sticker price to $65,000 - $70,000 on the 535i. You can guess what the 550i is going to cost!

yup, retired mine about 4 months ago
it's with my wife's twin sister up in Seattle. They were stunned by my log book and receipt collection. But it was beginning to wear me down: ABS sensor went out on the drive up too. A/C has a leak. Pixel rot had just set in. My nephew rashed the rims when he 'did us a favor' and took it to get groceries while visiting. A leak in the trunk seal caused the radio to sort out. Had to fix the passenger occupancy sensor, and I was frankly getting tired of feeling like the next time I turned the key, a $1000 problem was going to surface.
I just imported a Land Rover Defender 110. I regretted selling my D-90 the day after I sold it to buy the 540. This time, I went with diesel. One wire - ONE - controls the engine. It's a bit of a project and for sure I miss the 540, but it's fun and comparatively easy to work on. But the parts sure are heavier.
I have mixed feelings about the 540 still being in the family. For now, she is taking better care of it than I was, but mostly superficially. Be interesting to see what happens when sh!t starts going south.

He can't answer that question....but his boy child
should know how a 16-year old girl learns a stick for the first time.

original transmission vs. rebuilt transmission
NB: It's nice that you managed to get BMW to pay for your learning how to drive a manual (although some might call it fraud). Are you sure they didn't replace the clutch too?
As a refresher, most people purchase manual transmissions because they enjoy spirited driving. At the other end of the spectrum are those who are intimidated by the seemingly impossibly-complex operation of such a device, but who orgasm when passersby walk past their parked vehicle and see the stickshift. These are the ones who manage 80-90k on a clutch.
How many miles are on your car again?
