    CSi Exhaust?

I'm thinking about putting the CSi exhaust on my '91 850i and I'm at least pretty sure that it can be done. I did a search for the topic and didnt come up with much, so thats why I ask. Do you guys know if I could get the CSi exhaust from Gault and/or how much it would run me? And I'm probably just looking for the center res and the cans (w/ tips.) Anybody have any input? Thanks

Finished the paint this weekend. Gonna give it a couple of days, then buff it before install.

Jef, how much did they charge for the paint? By the time I got the paint supplies and my time spent I'd guess mine cost more! But painting is something I enjoy so.....

Center res is same. rear muffler is diff but

the difference is small compare to the price difference.
Get a quality muffler or magnaflow... not that magnaflow isn't quality but there are some more expensive and nicer ones.

    CSi Tips?

I ordered the Magnaflow cans and got them in. I've been shopping around for tips to put on the cans, and for some reason, I'm really drawn to the CSi tips. Does anyone know the measurements of those tips? Length? Diameter? I know they're staggered so if someone could tell me the length of the shorter one and the longer one that would be great, but I'm sure the muffler shop that I go to would at least be able to ballpark it. Any help always appreciated. Thanks guys.

    Re: CSi Tips?

I found the tips on Realoem.com (part number 82119401152.) The only thing is, it says that they're "chrome?" Weren't the CSi tips stainless steel? Because I've seen that CSi for sale on eBay (the one that started out at like $95K and is now like $79k) and those tips dont look chrome to me. Anybody have any insight? Thanks

That's an error in the ETK. The part number given is for the rectangular chrome tips of the 850i and 850Ci - not the round stainless steel tips from the 850CSi. As far as I know the 850CSi tips are not even available separately - they are part of the mufflers. There was a discussion about it recently at 8er.org in the topic Bying original mufflers for 850CSI (forum requires registration, but is free). Displayed below is the left 850CSi muffler:

I do not have the dimensions at hand, but if no one else responds I'll measure them one of these days.

Much easier: get the 840 tips. In my experience...

.... even a trashed rusted out exhaust from these cars (both V8 and V12)leaves the tips in great shape as they are heavy gauge steel. IMO the V8 tips have the proper compound stagger. Adding the 850 tips to magnaflows is a great mod, and the same would hold for V8 ones. Unless this were a faithful restoration or maintenance of an actual CSI I can't see how you could justify the expense.

I agree. The Ci tip is actually square and this

magnaflow here also comes with square tip. Not exactly same but you get the picture :-)

    Part # 14833

cost is $169.95 plus about 10usd for shipping (from me) . Jegs and Summit is more, but nobody can advertise any lower price then MSRP on Magnaflow.

Here you go... Each tip is made out of 3 mm thick stainless steel with an outside diameter of 76 mm. The polished and straight part of the tips is 135 mm long. The distance between the tips is 15 mm and the outer tips are 25 mm recessed (staggered setup).

    Re: CSi Exhaust?

I am not the leat bit impressed by the factory exhaust on my CSi

    In fact M73 was better

I am, in fact in search of headers.

If I cannot obtain those, I will at least extrude hone the exhaust when I do theads. Not sure about dyno results, but I have proven that make sthe engine mor eefficient on myu M73.

    Cheers
