    1983 E28

I just received a 1983 528e from my Grandfather... I was having some trouble starting the car, put a brand new battery in it, only to have the car run for a day, now there is no juice. Unfortunately I live in a pretty remote area of British Columbia, and finding a mechanic has been challenging. I believe it could be the alternator but not sure... Any suggestions?

If the battery is not charging it could be the alternator or the regulator. Put a meter on the battery with the car running and you should get >13V at the battery terminals. if not, the battery is probably not charging although the battery light in the car should go on when this happens (if the light and associated wiring/sensors are working).plexus
