shopping for a used 650 in need of pointers/heads^

Hello everyone ive been using this forum for the past 6 years or so in the e39 bmw section as i still currently drive a 99 540i sport..

ive been looking for the past 2 weeks or so for a pre owned ( preferably cpo) black on black low mileage manual 650 coupe.. i know this may be very hard to find for a good price..

is there anything in particular that i should look for in buying a car that may become a headache? i know my current car has many common problems some of which can be easily avoided with preventive maintenance and a good eye/ear..

im so new to this car that im not sure what to look for .. can anyone help guide me or give me some quick pointers?

Well as soon as you say 650 you are into good years, 2006 and beyond.

I've not seen anything in particular be a problem. I keep a comprehensive list of service bulletins (posted on other boards) and nothing stands out.

Options were broken out a little different than the MY04 and 05s. Sport package gets better seats, 19 inch wheels and thats it. Active Steering was a separate option from '06 on.

HUD is a great option as well. All come with NAV (standard). Not sure when Active Cruise Control started but I have always shied away from that option and like the standard cruise control.

Logic 7 (also known as Premium Sound) is the only logical choice in audio as standard version is pretty gutless.

Park Distance Control was also standard on '05 not sure on '06 and later. Bluetooth should be standard as well.

Satellite Radio is a frequient option you may find as well.

I'd stress trying to get a CPO as things can get pretty pricey in a hurry without a warranty. Also if a CPO wat dealer I'd try to negotiate latest software. Lots of bugs get fixed by these updates. These cars are significantly controlled by software.
