    a loaner CPO

    Is a loaner car from a BMW dealer a bad car? I saw a 328i with around 30K miles and feel interested. I tend to think that people would drive hard on a loaner car than a personal car, but aren't BMW meant to be driven hard? Suggestions?

    Meant to be driven hard or not, a car will suffer

    a much higher wear rate if it is pushed, than if it is driven conservatively. Don't fall too much for the mystique stuff. When all is said and done it's steel, plastic, rubber, glass, etc. Lots of our suspension parts need regular attention even when treated right.
    I bet plenty of loaners are just driven around town to get the chores done while waiting for your own car to come back home. Treat that potential purchase carefully as you would any other. Due diligence is in order for solid insight.
    Drive the car with a critical eye, get it inspected, and check the service records.

    Thanks for the comments. It has been driven by many so I am hoping it would show on the service record. The records show no uneven wear or many electrical resets. And the brake pads did not need replacement, according to CPO mechanic. It seems too good to be true and I start to worry that they may not report everything since it is a loaner.
    Do most people use premium gas even it is a loaner?

    Now that's a question for the ages! Who could ever

    figure if dealers fill with premium, and/or if loaner people do the same.
    Best just to figure that regular gas won't do you any harm, except to cut performance. You'll be back in business after a tank of refreshing premium!

    I think you are probably reasonably safe with the BMW loaner car, but check it out carefully. In contrast, I'd NEVER even consider buying a car from the rental fleets. I've seen how the frustrated business men floor it out of the rental lots at the airports, even in freezing weather. They don't care if the lubricants are still cool, etc. One problem with a BMW loaner: you're almost surely stuck with automatic transmission.
