Door locks sticking
Sometimes my door locks stick in the locked position. I can only open the door by using the key in the drivers door and still the passenger door and center compartment remain locked. You can't open the door from inside with the handle and the lock/unlock button on the console will lock but not unlock the doors. After a while, 10 minutes to an hour, it starts working again. It sounds like something in the lock mechanism is sticking and finally releases. Anyone else had this problem? Is an expensive fix?

Re: Door locks sticking
I've had a similar problem, but on driver's side door. I've only had it happen 3 times though (I have 64,000 miles on 2003 2.5).
Here's what happens with me. I go to open the car door with handle from inside. The door won't unlock (you know, how you pull the handle twice - once to unlock, second time to open). The lock will come up, but then comes back down to lock again.
I end up having to use the unlock button on the car to unlock the door.
But then it goes away. Odd...
Feels unsafe - I'm worried it won't unlock in an emergency. Thinking of having presets redone, where doors don't automatically lock after you start to drive.

Re: Door locks sticking
That sounds very much like my situation. Mine used to happen once every few months, now it happens every couple of weeks. In my case the center console button doesn't work either. After continuing to hit the button, it will finally pop the locks.

Re: Door locks sticking
Problem is the Bowden cable is either frayed or has come off the guide. PITA to fix... hopefully you have an independent shop that knows BMW's or if you are still under warranty, take it to the dealer.-
