    any comment on the quality?..i rec'd mine & it's..

not as expected..some bad symmetry on the top and bottom caps, with incomplete welds..tanks are nicely done, but slightly out of alignment..and some bowing at top(etc.)..the Seller(to be named shortly) advised some units are notsogood cuz' of shipping but this one looks like it was a poor effort by the junior guy on the line..Seller advised i should contact Mishimoto for a warranty claim(seems less than fair to me, i didn't Pop$$$ to wait 6+wks for a ??)..On the plus side, a decent unit should fit, with minor alteration to oe intake horn..and the material quality is "good", the overflow spigit is fairly stout(certainly when compared to oe)...Note:all this cuz i was "lucky" enough to notice pin-hole sized crack at very top of oe unit @53k mi..."leaky-lucky",i guess...but it doesn't look like i'm gonna put this one back on the road anytime soon..will post some pics later...Z3 Cheers! dk '97 2.8 bg R,+1(Alpine wh/Evergreen HT)

I thought it looked pretty good, on first inspection, which was not very thorough, didn't notice any bowing - but will check again more carefully! I did get some M6-12mm screws for the shroud attachment (factory pins will not work, but honestly it will be better - one of those fell out and wrecked the shroud after mechanic replaced pump a while back) One of the screws took a bit of work to get in - I guess it was a threading issue - but I worked it in carefully and should be fine now. Will report back if I see any quality issues. I plan to take some pics when I get to putting the thing in!

    Re: Zionsville Radiator

My stock blew on I-84 in Hartford bout a month ago. Replaced with Zionsville and got new thermostat. Temperature rock steady in the middle in stop and go traffic during 104 degree F New England heat wave last week.

How many miles when your stock blew?

Yeah zionsville looks like a great unit, if the mishimoto doesn't work out, I might go that route, 84 through Hartford not a pleasant place to have it go south.. Hope to start the install in a day or two.

Fitment looks pretty good, looks like NO issues with stock airbox interference:

Re: did you modify it at all, or just drop it in?

As you see it in the pictures it just dropped in, only issues I see are a slight trim of one of the fan shroud tabs, the grommets that fit in the top are loose, some electrical tape around them should allow them to fit snug, and I needed to get some screws in place of the pin fasteners.

The VSL rad, which is identical in price and dimensions does come with custom grommets and the screws.. Mishimoto has lifetime warranty no questions asked - even if you get in an accident.

Again I am not finished, hopefully there will be no other issues.

    It's in all systems go

The fan shroud: I did trim around the lower radiator hose slightly - to allow the fan shroud a little more room around that - I also trimmed the tabs a little to allow the shroud to fit in a little lower - fitting the fan shroud was really the only hassle..

Filled, Bled, and took for a trip, everything appears to be working good.

saw your pics on the other board...

...your Mishi sure looked better than the one i rec'd..Fortunately my seller is A#1..My new Fluidyne unit is in transit(at some added cost, but a sweet deal)..and hopefully my Z3'ing Wifey will be happier sooon..Just for posterity: Mishimoto was very willing to make me VERY happy with a replacement unit, but after much thought, I went another way..Z3 Cheers! Re: saw your pics on the other board...

Have some pics above here too under my original post ^^

Everything went real smooth, only issue was the fan shroud - as you noted about the asymmetry between tanks - fan shroud is not quite flush maybe a couple mm gap on one side, little trimming required around the lower intake hose - by the way - how important is the fan shroud anyway??

ans: not as important with al tank...but..

..my concern would be that it didn't vibrate against tank surface anywhere..Will be adding black 1/4"closed-cell foam on my Fluidyne install and trim shroud as needed(if any)..then cover any "new" edge with BMW black 5mm edge trim...probably paint bottom cap BMW silver...working on glovebox for moment..reinforcements galore!..Z3 Cheers! dk '97 2.8 bg R, +1, etc..
