    Got my baby back!

Actually, it happened about a week ago. The body shop completed repairs needed after my 2001 2.5i was hit in the driver side by a Dodge Ram running a red light. Got a "new" door off of another car and the rear quarter panel was replaced as well as the wheel and tire, among other repairs. I also had them take out dings and fix the paint elsewhere on the car. It looks almost as good as new and I really like having my Z3 back after being without it for over a month and having to drive a rental car. Having to drive other cars for a month made me appreciate my car again.

I have one small question to attach here (and some other unrelated ones I'll post separately). The door sills both used to have a chrome-plated strip that said "Roadster" on them, with the letters also in chrome. The one they replaced on the driver's side is now chrome with black letters. Why the difference or what model was my new door sill actually made for?Lobo

I think mine are in black...

...but I'm nowhere near the car to be able to check. It's a 97.

Glad to see you got her back!

Mine are black lettering on a chrome background (stock 2000 Z3) I wonder if the change was because yours was a 2001.

Must be from an older Z3. My '02 is all chrome.

    No black

On my Aug. 97, but I believe it's anodized aluminum, not chromium.

Both of mine are the non-black kind....

The 2.8 has a build date of 10/96 and the 1.9'er is from 07/97. Do you have the chrome-line option? Both of mine have the chrome headlight switch and the insturment clusters have the chrome rings.
