Re: Looks Like ZFest Is Adding Track Time...

Maybe I misread some thing, but does a parade lap at 10 MPH and photo during lunch break equal "track time".
In that case I have raced at Indianapolis.
You're not misrepresenting this are you?

Uh, we'll be going faster than 10mph....

we'll get up to highway speeds easily enough. 1A is the longest configuration of Buttonwillow and includes the A-version of the Off Ramp, Cotton Corners, Bus-Stop, Riverside, Phil Hill, Star Mazda, and the Esses. Still you can't beat the price of admission for the lunch time laps (free).

    Wayne,

If you want more track time, you could sign up for the time-trial/PDX

    http://www.calclub.com/next-event.php

They might be able to do something to sign you up for Sunday only, but at $165 for the weekend, I've paid more than that for a single test and tune day. Sadly, since my Z3 doesn't have the roll hoops I can't run the PDX and the race car won't be ready yet.

Re: Uh, we'll be going faster than 10mph....

I am not complaining about the price or the event. I think it is a great idea. But a parade lap and photo is NOT "track time" and it should not be called that. It is a miss leading choice of words.
    .
I am going to LA for Zfest, not a track day. I have taken my car out for track days, but most BMW events are not roadster friendly so I go with another group.

Wayne, this event is outside of ZFest...

and has absolutely NOTHING to do with ZFest.

For those who have never raced their car, 55 MPH around a track will probably be exciting and the closest thing to getting on a track that they will ever see.

If it bores you, don't go.

"Wayne, this event is outside of ZFest...
and has absolutely NOTHING to do with ZFest."

If that is the case, then why did you post that "Looks like ZFest is adding track time and to watch www.zfest.com for updates"?

I also clearly said I liked the idea just not the misrepresentation of it. Did I miss read your post?

    Because when it was originally...

proposed to me a few days ago, I figured that I would advertise it as a free, Sunday event for ZFest attendees but have decided not to make it a part of ZFest for liability reasons.

I am going to let folks know that Cal Club is hosting an event and those who wish to attend it can contact them. I figure that folks who are headed north on Sunday may want something to do.

So no, you did not misread anything. Feel free to email me if you have any questions.

BD is almost ALWAYS confused, but this time. . .

I think his point was that the "issue," as it was, didn't have to be cleared up for "everyone" as WB-MZ concluded. Rather, most of us either weren't confused or didn't care in the first place. So the issue was cleared up for WB-MZ, not for "everyone." Methinks Blaine was trying to point out that some can make a mountain out of a molehill.

If I'm misinterpreting BD, I'm sure he will step in and explain, but I usually have a pretty good Blaine-0-Meter, so I'm guessing I'm pretty much spot on.

I'm sure he is, it just seems like. . .

people are WAY to ready to impute some sort of nefarious intent or conspiracy against the ZSCCA for some reason. Although I'm not a member, I can just imagine the amount of work you guys put in to make the group viable and to put on ZFest, and yet you have now been "called out" at least twice for supposedly misrepresenting things. I think it's unfair. And I think Blaine was trying to point that out.

Whether Wayne had a valid question or not, it was a bit presumptuous of him to thank you for clarifying it for "everyone" when he was the only one who seemed worked up about it.

Your right, a poor choice of words on my part

On any subject, some people care a lot, some people don't care at all, most are just going along for the ride and some just don't have a clue. Getting everyone to agree on any thing is usually impossible.
