    Grounding problem/ for starter

    is it possible for anyone to give me a list of the locations of the grounds and where they should be on the 1980 320I? im getting power to my starter i can jump the starter to get it to work i have tested the black and yellow wire off the solenoid with a 12Volt light and it works but when connected to the the solenoid it will not light up there for i have a grounding problem, so can anyone help?

    chances are its the solonoid itself then, as the starter is grounded by virtue of it being bolted to the engine, which is in nturn grounded to the battery via several connections, including a large one on the underside of the engine.
