L.A. - Why not more excitement here for ZFest?
I attended five Homecomings in SC and had a blast every time. I attended ZFest last year in Cincy and had a blast. The weather was great. I'm really excited about heading west this year after going east so many times in the past. I thought the ZSCCA did a great job with ZFest last year, especially for a first attempt. I'm not opposed to moving the date. Maybe the time of year with the best weather in the hosting region could dictate the date. You sure wouldn't want to have it in Texas on Labor Day. Triple digit heat is not much fun! But mid October to mid November would be nice in Texas. But I vote for someplace in the mountains ;-)
There's just not the excitement here like there was for Homecoming every year, and that's unfortunate because ZFest is a great event. I miss all that excitement on the board. Maybe this is just a different group of people now...

I would be heading to LA except for the date.
Z'fest being just 6 days after BMW CCA's O'fest made it a very tough choice for me this year. More so since I was just on the west coast @ Crater Cruz. A flexible date and location for Z'fest would be a good thing(like Cody said Labor Day in Texas ain't no fun).

The ZSCCA Board of Directors...
has discussed moving it but decided that it should remain on Labor Day weekend. If enough folks let the board know that you want it moved, maybe they will respond.
And for those who want a chuckle, it is in Texas next year during, you guessed it, LABOR DAY.
I agree with those that feel the date could be adjusted. Personally, Memorial Day weekend would be nice for me as far as weather goes.

Re: The ZSCCA Board of Directors...
We would love to go to Texas but NOT in September. Being HOT and sweaty is not our idea of a fun weekend. We just spent a few weeks in the TX hill country in May and although we enjoyed the visit, we wish we went in April. Having the a/c on in the Z3 is counterproductive but 100 degree heat is just not acceptable. No choice. Scott, I'm a nobody but you need to reconsider Labor day in Texas. Others will chime in.

Re: The ZSCCA Board of Directors...
Also, Memorial Day is just as bad. It is brutally HOT in Texas in late May. Do a search on the Weather Channel or any weather site and punch in the average monthly temps, and see what we are talking about. As I said in my last post, we just lived through it. We are not wimps. We lived in FL our entire lives. Try living through 40 years of FL summers! You see why we live in NC now. Convertibles and triple digit temps don't work for many. If we were still in our teens and twenties we wouldn't even care. Not many Z3 owners are in that category from what we observed at past homecomings.

Like potato chips - who can eat just one?
Why not an East Coast AND a West Coast ZFest? California / Nevada area in the spring and New England in the fall. And stay away from holiday weekends altogether. Announce the dates and locations a year in advance so everyone can book vacation time / travel time / take a break from retirement time, whatever far enough ahead to make it happen.
No reason folks can't go to both or just one. Whatever works for you works for the good of the Z community. I for one would have loved to have gone to Spartanburg but distance, dollars and tie-in with the Labor Day Holiday all took turns preventing me from attending. With two events and no holiday considerations and my choice of travel distances, I could participate.
Anyway, I never joined the ZSCCA so I have no voice. But I can type and I guess you all can read because here we are! :)
