cats help... magnaflow? other? diametre size?

Hello to everyone,

I have a 1995 e38 730il (3.0 v8)
In need of replacing cats with aftermarket.

Im thinking magnaflow 94005 (2 1/4")? any other recommendations?

Also are the current exhaust pipes 2 1/4" or 2 1/5"??

The reason i ask is should i get the cat in and out diametre larger than the exhaust pipe diametre to slide it in or is it best to have the same diametre and weld the join??

I will be buying the cats online and getting a professional shop to install them. Also my bmw tech has the bmw dis diagnostic tool.
