ZfFest is just 5 days away...more

We are only 5 days to ZFest 2010 and things are really looking great!

First of all, the weather calls for high 80's and SUNNY during the day and low 60's at night. For those of you coming from the Southern states and the East Coast, an 80 degree day in Southern California means dry and mild-and best of all, NO humidity! Evenings may be a bit cool so bring some layers and remember that Thursday's reception and Fridays dinner will be under the stars.

Many of you have emailed me your sign-up for the VDC on Friday and the museum on Saturday and I have plugged you in to those tours. For those who have not signed up for either of them, you still have time to do so but must sign up by Monday, August 30. After that, tours will be available only if space permits as both venues need to release the available space to the general public. There is plenty of room left for both tours but please email me right away.

When you arrive at ZFest, your registration package will have an envelope containing your name badges, tickets to the Thursday reception (if you indicated when you registered that you were arriving on Thursday), the Friday and Saturday dinners (if you purchased those) and a label that indicates your tour time for the VDC and museum. The Thursday reception begins at 6 PM in the Rose Garden next to the pool.

On Friday at ZFest ground zero, those who choose to remain at the hotel will have vendors and a presentation by BMWGroup-DesignworksUSA. There are also local drives in the Santa Clarita area that are spectacular and of course, Magic Mountain with some of the top rated roller coasters in the world. For those who like to stroll and shop, your wishes will be fulfilled within a few steps of the Hyatt. Need to visit a BMW dealer, we have one about 10 minutes away and it is worth a visit. Dinner will be in the Rose Garden at 6 PM followed by dancing under the stars. The attire is California Casual which means the more colorful it is the better you'll fit it. Cool...

On Saturday, we will arrive as a convoy at Magic Mountain at 7 AM (departing the Hyatt at 6:45 AM) to line up for the panoramic photo. We will complete the photo no later than 9 AM (so that the park can open). A poster child from Make A Wish, whose wish is to restore a car, will be on hand for the pano photo and the lucky winner of the raffle for the front row-center spot will have the opportunity to have this young man pose along side them.

The 10 AM museum tour group will depart from Magic Mountain for the 20 minute drive to the Museum. The rest of the group is on their own. At the Hyatt, there will be vendors and clinics. The second group tour of the museum begins at 1:30 PM and will meet at the museum at 1 PM.

On Saturday, from 4 to 6 PM, there will be a display of a handful of vintage cars that inspired the BMW designers of Z series cars. It may surprise you as to what we will be displaying. Fred Kern will be on hand to discuss the relationship between our beloved Z's and these incredible machines.

The annual awards banquet will begin at 6 PM and is adjacent to the vintage display. It will be either in the Rose Garden or the Banquet Room depending on the weather. The Make A Wish poster child and his family and Make A WIsh reps will be joining us for our final get together as a group.

Sunday those who are heading to Button Willow race track for the track drive can depart as a group. More about this during ZFest.

Please remember that at all times while at ZFest that safety is number one and YOU are responsible for your own safety and that of those around you.

During your visit, the ZFest staff will do everything they can to ensure that your visit is incredible. We will have staff at the off site tours as well as at the Hyatt at all times for your convenience. Key staff members can be identified by their red ZFest polo shirts.

For those of you who are reading this from the road, I hope that your travels are incredible and continue to be safe.

    Cheers,

    Scott Pettit
