I drove past a parts place today...

...but it's a German holiday so I'll swing by in the next day or two and ask them if they can help. I haven't actually found a junk yard, but this looks pretty close to one (and it's close to where I'm living). I'll keep you posted.

I talked with the guy today...

He speaks really good english but said Z3s are "too new" to be in junk yards yet over here :-). I'm sure they're in some, but I don't know where to look for them. His shop was a jumble of all kinds of cars, parts, and tires, but he seemed to know his stuff and had ///M5s everywhere!

I asked for a price on the part and he wanted to know more specifics about your car, and then told me it would be an expensive part, mostly because it would be very difficult to find a used one. I would suggest emailing him directly as to avoid my confusing exactly what you want. He wanted to know which type of tranny you had (GM?) and the last 7 of your VIN. Here's his info:

    Toni's Autoland
    [email protected]
phone 06371-2853 (you'll need to dial 011, then 49 before the number for international if you call)

    Good luck!

    Thank you for your help!

I'll get in contact with him.

I'm surprised that they're too new for German wrecking yards.

    Good...mostly yes. Careful? Hmmm...not always!

I've seen some idiots out here, too, but for the most part, they take their driving VERY seriously. You NEVER cruise in the left lane. If you're in the left lane, you're checking your mirror for the 911 doing 300kmph behind you!

Get into town, though, and they fly through narrow roads with cars all around. It's a little nerve-racking the first couple of times you're in a cab. I'm used to it now...hell, I'm driving like them now! :-)
