    non BMW roadster...

Anyone ever see one of these?:

Okay, so apparently I can't hold my hand steady (especially on that last one) but this Ford Street KA was actually decent looking in real life. Top-down it had Audi TT-like roll hoops. I wonder why Ford didn't import it? It looks interesting enough...

Not to mention the Mondeo is a pretty nice-looking car. Why does an American company leave their best stuff outside of the country?!

97 2.8 Arctic Silver - Tanin Red interior with wood console - black top
Whalen Shift Machine, polished - Type II windscreen (non roll-hoops) - Bilstein HD shocks/struts
Axxis Metal Master pads - Brembo rotors - Doug Whalen seat bushings
Passenger Eject (unfortunately non-functional) - OEM Passenger Airbag Disable switch
Polk Audio all around - Blaupunkt PA amps - LeatherZ Mark II armrest - Strong Strut Trio - AUX input via tapedeck

Perhaps it was in the works for the US market to go against the Solstice and Sky, but since Pontiac and Saturn went 'bye bye' there was no need.

Because the US has such rediculous...

safety and emissions standards that many car companies cannot get some of their product into the country.

I love wandering around Europe and spotting cars that we'll never see here.

Re: Nope, the KA has been manufactured by Ford

as a European "city car" since 1996. It is predominately available as a coupe, but a roadster StreetKA or SportKA has been produced since 2003.

With a 1.3 l motor, it is very economical to operate and very popular in Great Britan where it is the best selling car there. It seems to be a safe car. It has also been available in the Latin American market for several years.

As I understand the reason it isn't imported into the US is due to the Ford corporate perception that it isn't suitable for the American market. Why sell a small car with a small profit margin when you can sell a 4 door truck with a larger profit margin.

Making it meet US safety standards wouldn't be that difficult, but why make the effort if they can make a better profit with another product.
