    Self leveling system inactive

Had same problem around Nov.of 2009 that cost me with tax $928.00. It's now Oct. of 2010 and I have the same problem. What's causing this to happen. Both times I was parked on flat ground.

    Re: Self leveling system inactive

It could be a corroded suspension height sensor that is shorting out and causing the master air supply control unit to fail. This can happen with either the X5 self leveling rear suspension option or the adjustable ride height option, especially if driven in very wet environments.

The good news is that if the current cause of the Self Leveling System Inactive warning in your Check Control display is the same as your original cause a year ago, and the original problem/parts were replaced by a licensed BMW dealer, then you should still be covered under BMW's two year parts/labor warranty on service repairs.

    Good luck!
