215 yesterday
Oh wait, that was my rental 318d out here in Germany coming back from Trier...and it was in kmph on the autobahn (134mph) completely maxed out. She wouldn't go anymore (and the Mercedes in front of me was still pulling away). The Z3 has hit 120 ONCE in the middle of nowhere west Texas and three thoughts came to my mind:
1. I can slow down, enjoy the fact that I just did that with the top down, and move along.
2. I can hit a cow (VERY real possibility for where I was) and die.
3. I can go to jail. Go directly to jail. Do not pass go, possibly lose my commission, raise my insurance rates, lose my license, and pretty-much hate life for a while.
I chose option 1.

Re: Fess up.......
I've hit 116 on the back stretch of Watkins Glen a number of times. That is as fast as I can make my 1.9 Liter supercharged Z go on the track. I had it to 120 once on an interstate with no traffic anywhere in sight and a long stretch of open road. It seems to handle the speed fine, but I have a number of mods as well.98 Z3 1.9 ; HMS strut tower brace, antisway bars, and roll bar; Supersprint cat back exhaust; Dinan chip; Whalen Shift Machine; Strong-Strut Butt strut; FOGGED air box, Downing Atlanta Supercharger.

120 indicated on speedo
so probably 112-115 on the local track, during a BMW club driving event.
There is a 180 turn right after this stretch, so you have to brake like crazy to get down to 25-30 to make that turn.
Mine's a 2000 2.3.
I had a ride with a friend who had the S54 MZ3 (phoenix yellow), and we hit over 130 on the same stretch of the track.

I refuse to answer on the grounds that I might....
... but my speedo is off by 6 mph according to my GPS (which also has a speedo). But coming down the long hill on I-15 from Utah to Nevada (heading to 10YOC), I was ahead of Buddy and Mary.....
I'd keep playing! I don't think the heavy stuff will be coming down for quite a while!
