126 according to the DeLorme on the dash
Top down, late at night, deserted 4-lane highway with median wall, ~2 miles visibility both directions, bugs in teeth :-)
Ran out of road before I ran out of throttle.
2000 2.3 roadster, pretty much stock except for Bilsteins front & rear. Kumho Ecstas on the pavement.

130, on a local county road...
No traffic, of course.
I reached an intersection stop sign, and around the corner comes a state trooper; whew!
Did the same thing several times in my MINI (130-135) without getting nabbed.
They finally got me one day last Fall; a female deputy in a (practically unmarked) SUV came over a rise and nailed me at 89, on my way up to maybe 130 or so.
After she finished writing the ticket, I thanked her for not coming along a few seconds later. :-)

Often over 100; but,
didn't want to push it too much because you can't be sure about the tires. If one would blow out at high speed it could be VERY bad. Also, I used to do it on my way back from lunch going over a long bridge (Rt 5 skyway over ship canals in Buffalo). Divided highway with no cross traffic, places for cops to hide with radar and good sight lines to check for cops (and no place for them to turn around). Expansion joints were scarry and would never pass slower traffic I would come up on, just didn't trust them to stay in their lane.

Re: GForce Performance Chip Kit for the BMW Z3 .......
If it requires installing a chip, then it is twentieth century technology, probably to be avoided. I suggest you just get the Conforti shark engine management software upgrade. Great performance boost, and it really IS simple to put in place.
If you want lots more specific details, just drop me an email. I've sharked several of my own Z3 line cars, and helped do it for several others. Results are more than good.
