    '99 Z3 2.8 Dual Vanos Power Failure....HELP !!!

    Hello...

On going issue (since June/10) with my '99 2.8 dual vanos British Traditional Edition Z3.

Engine light came on and progressed to rough cold start idle (no throttle response) once this settled, car runs w/hesitant throttle response and after cruising just below/above 3000 rpm, complete loss of power and throttle response (will idle, not stall) turn off ignition and restart immediately, car will run well until cycle repeats itself.

Codes tripped were O2 sensors and misfires...

    I have...

    Cleaned MAF twice...
    Replaced O2 sensors...
    Replaced fuel filter...
    Replaced fuel injectors...
    Replaced intake manifolds...
Rebuilt the vanos unit w/Besian parts...

Each time car worked better and returned to original issue within 10 to 30 minutes driving time and check engine back on now showing only misfires...

Much time and money into this without much success... anyone with a theory as to what is going on please advise !!

    Thanks

It might pay to take car to dealer to have the

    codes read with their equipment.

My wife's M3 had a problem with cold start....

idle and misfires. I went to a standard single electrode NGK plug and that cured its problem, but it never lost power. Have you checked the coil packs out? Also which O2 sensors did you replace, pre-cat or post-cat?
