    engine racing on start-up

This morning I started the engine with my foot off the pedal,
as usual and the engine immediately zoomed up to 3000 RPM
before I turned it off. I did this 4 more times before
it finally came on and acted normally.

    Any ideas?

    best regards

Condition of the battery? Is it dropping below 12.1v overnight?

I changed the battery and several days later (this morning) I had the same problem. On starting the RMS keep increasing until I turn off
the ignition. This happened 2-3 times and then it started and ran
normally. I don't get any codes from the GDSII

    Any ideas?

    Re: engine racing on start-up

Running to 3k rpm on start up is a classic sign of the ECM losing the fuel trim memory. Starting normally after a short time means the fuel trim memory has been restored by input from the o2 sensors. Loss of battery to ECM, ground issue. There are fuses and a relay involved. Swap the ECM relay with a like one. I believe all the square brown ones are the same.

Check the JTIS for permanent battery supply to the ECM.

I took all but one of the electrical connectors off the throttle body, cleaned the terminals and put them back on. (The big one on the left
side I couldn't figure how to remove).

This seems to have solved the problem for a few weeks, anyhow.
