Been stellar fall night ride and 'cross season

Cross dressing while cross racing, now that's outer fringe.

Took third Master 50+ in Park Ave cross race last weekend and 7th in NY State Championships yesterday. Delaware Park and KB Kross to finish the season. I'm almost out of Oktoberfests in my fridge.

Night Wednesdays have been clear skied and full mooned. Fall Hooky Day ride was on a 65-degree blue sky day with 20 miles and 3600' of climbing on Stid and Bristol Mountains. Took first Expert 40+ at Roots, Rocks & Ridges and 13th overall in that 3+ hour hell-race (41 and drizzle). Still the hardest mtb race in NY. Add first Expert 50+ at Sprague Brook Stampede and it's been a heck of a nice fall for me. We had wet snow walking our ghouls around last night so it'll be time to wax skis soon.

Lemme know how that post works.

Uh can you explain some of that, I need some....

I think some congrats are in order, but all I understood is that you are cross dressing, while bike riding? ;-)

Seriously, Sounds like a great season, wish I had the stamina.

Re: Been stellar fall night ride and 'cross season

Man, I feel inadequate! You kick adz on those races! I join you in 50+ in a couple months.

My first night ride this year is Wed nite at Mohonk Mountain, near New Paltz. Bunch of guys from the area (about 90 minute drive to trailhead for me).

I bought a 2008 yeti 575 from ebay earlier this year, been riding as much as possible since. It included a couple 4-packs of 18650 Li-Io cells, with home-brew LED lights. 4 hour+ burn time.

Yesterday was a cold ride, time for the third layer of clothes and winter boots! No snow yet, but first frost just came.

I'll let you know on the post, good reviews, but it's just now coming to the general market.

    Translations

'cross, or cyclocross, is a bicycle race on a road frame and skinny knobby tires with mountain bike brakes for mud clearance. Courses are between 1 and 2 miles long on park grass and have off-camber sections, short steep climbs that force riders to shoulder the bike and run (run-ups), and at least two 16" tall hurdles somewhere. Lots of tight turns and sketchy sections where some ride and others run. The race is how many laps can be done in 45 or 60 minutes, depending on race category. Begun in Belgium when road racers 100 years ago would be bored so they'd race from one farm to another by whatever route they could come up with. It evolved from there and is gaining steam in the US. Lots of fun. Generally, cross racing while cross dressing is allowed but slows the dismount-remount and isn't very warm;-)

    mtb = mountain bike

Joisey, race age is your age as of December 31 of that year, so if you will turn 50 before the end of the year then your racing age has been 50 all of year 2010!

    the lbs keeps pushing me

to race. And don't call me old, I am still 49 on 12/31/10!

    (lbs = local bike shop)

They are converting a near-by humungous ancient mental institution (woody guthrie died there) to a cyclo cross place, dual duty for xc running races and bicycle races.
