tiny screwdriver...

They're deeper than they look, that's why I took this picture when I did mine. Use a tiny screwdriver and be patient, it'll come.

I guess you could...
...but it wasn't too tough to remove. I think there was a black outline area, and then the plug was separate. Are you prying the correct place? Look at the pic and find the tab, insert the scredriver there and it should come out fairly easily.
