10 years of ownership, and 100k on clock

Kind of a trivia post, like Facebook.

Today is 10 years of ownership of my E36, and it just turned 100,000 miles on the clock. I bought the car with 38k on the clock 10 years ago.

In 10 years, I've spent $6,300 on maintenance (parts & labor), and $3,100 on upgrades, roughly $1,000 per year, and $0.10 per mile maintenance costs.

Thanks for all your help on this forum. I saved a lot of money and time.

    Brian

I passed 10 years too, a few months ago,

My car had 82000 miles 10 years ago, and it has 256000 now.

It's rusty, paint peeling, cracked windshield, SRS and ABS lights are on. But it still drives better than most of the cars on the road.

I've averaged about $1000 per year in maintenance and parts. I do the easier repairs myself and the difficult ones go to relatives for free.

This forum has been very useful. I fixed the frayed wires at the trunk lid a few days ago. I searched the archives and then it took me 10 minutes to find the problem.

Re: 10 years of ownership, and 100k on clock

Hi there, I have owned my 328 for 10yrs too. Its now got 400,000Km and all is good. everything works great (all but the anti-lock, which I don't care for anyway) I doo all the mantenace and repairs myself.
I would buy another tomorrow if I needed to. I'm waitting for this one to wear out, now since it does not consume any oil at all and theres no rust I figure its good for a long while yet.

    My secret:

    1. Oil change every 5000Km (or 3000miles)with synthetic.I live in Ontario where we are in kilometers here-- 1.6Km equals 1 mile.
    2. Rust proff every year (here I use a garage called Krown rust treatment.
    3. Always fix things right away---so things don't add up. Or else one day you'll have 6-10 things wong it it. I keep everything 100% all the time (except for the abs)
