It's always fun....
... to go look over a vehicle (in this case a '98 Moto Guzzi) for a far-away friend.
Especially when SOMEBODY ELSE is going to potentially spend the money!! ;o)
This has been done FOR me by members of this board, so I am more than happy to pay it forward.

There are only 2 BMWs that I like...
...My favorite being the 1977 R100S with bullet faring, and the late 90s R1200. IMHO, the old airheads with the toaster tanks are the classiest of them all. I'd love to have a sport bike(Ducati/Aprilia), but I'm too short. The MG Centauro is a sport bike pretending to be a cruiser, straddling it flat-footed would be easy. Another alternative would be to strip a California down and turn it into a cafe bike. All of the Calis have the Tonti frame, which makes cafeing a no-brainer.

My second choice was a...
...Triumph. I made an offer on a 98 Thunderbird sport 900 last month and the aššhole sold the bike out from under me. If I were gonna do a ...Triumph. If I could afford a new bike, I'd go for the Bonneville T100. My only prerequisite for a bike is that I can straddle it flat-footed. A customer riding the bike below let me try it on for size, it was a perfect fit. The traditional creamcicle orange/white paint scheme is classic Triumph. Triumph was the only brand on my short list, until I heard the exhaust on a V11 California Bassa, the "Guzzi growl" got me hook, line, and sinker=8^D The owner of the T100 had Vance&Hines pipes on his bike, it sounded totally kickass. Triumph or Guzzi, the bike that I ultimately get will be a matter of right time, right place, right price.
