How far does your driver seat go back??
Since I have been spending a lot of time lately under my driver seat
ref. my steering tilt problem
I decided at the same time to check why my driver seat seemingly not goes back as far anymore as it used to (at least that what it seemed like lately) and no I have not been growing.....
So I compared the driver and passenger seat positions and to my surprise the pass. seat goes back about an inch or 2 farther.
IS THIS BY BMW DESIGN???
I took some pics (at http://s207.ph--otobucket.com/albums/bb160/CMyachtie/E39stuff/Seat issue/) of the rails the seat moves on and sure enough there is some piece of steel capping the right rail at the back that IMHO would prevent the seat to move back all the way.
Appreciate confirmation if this is normal or not.
Thanks

Removed mine after I bought it 5 years ago
I dont know why it's there but it makes the e39 drivers environment a little cramped. I have not noticed any ill happenings, nothing blew up, disabled, fell apart, or broke.
Just pry that sucker off and throw it in the drawer.
I am supposing it was there to limit seat movement to measure rear seat legroom, how about rear facing baby seats, or perhaps aliens more comfy back there in the back seat.
Does anyone know the real answer or does it reall matter?
