HELP!! My ashtray is stuck......

I know, I know I should post this in the E60 forum, but that place is a graveyard and I know that you guys know your stuff. Randy?

My front ashtray is stuck. I pushed it back in after using the 12v plug to charge my phone, and now it won't open up again. Any quick fix or should I just take it to the dealer?

This feature is clearly outlined in the <del>Loser's</del> Owner's Manual under "How to hide your shame." If I recall correctly, if you pull the ashtray down at a 90-degree angle and then pull backward, a sedan-sized tarp with an E39 printed on it will be ejected.

Think of it as the E60 equivalent to pulling your lip over your head and swallowing your fugly face.

Should I tell Rich there is no fix for this problem except to replace said E60 with F10?

I actually am not an F10 lover either. I drove a 550 and it felt like a big E60 to me. Just not much "spirit" anymore. And the price just keeps going up and up for stuff I'm not interested in anyway. Both Lisa and I need new cars, and we're actually going to look at Mercedes this weekend.

But before you do that, you might have something stuck (the cigarette lighter?) in the ashtray blocking it from opening. Try to wiggle a popsicle stick or similar tool in the opening in the trim and see if you can dislodge it
