    MODIS COMPUTER TAIL LIGHT LED

My indie has a MODIS computer with the "european package". Will he have the capability to reprogram the computer to stop the lamp filament checking so I can install LED's tail lights in my 99 528?

Even if he can, is that something you really > > >

want to do. The solution to the LCM check light on the LED tail lights is to install the appropriate size resistor on the feeds to both those lights. This will "trick" the LCM into thinking you still have the incandescent bulbs and will allow the LCM to continue to monitor all your other light which is actually a pretty good feature to have.

    Just thinking out loud.

Based on some digging via the SEARCH function >

This problem with the Check Bulb light may or may not exist with the LED tail lights. Depending on the design of the aftermarket lights, the transformer for the LED tail lights may have electrical load properties similar to the 4W incandescent bulb it replaces. Most of the "Celis" aftermarket assemblies still use incandescent bulbs for turn signal and brake. Your mileage may differ.

The Search Results in this link provide a lot of discussion on your question. Resistor packs are REQUIRED for HID headlamp upgrades. Either that or a reprogramming of your LCM to reflect the presence of HID instead of halogen. I may have been confusing the issue in my initial reply to your post. If so, sorry 'bout that.

Re: I did the LED bulb and no error message.

Thanks.. A year or two ago I installed LED's into the center tail light to prevent overheating and melting the socket to the bulb. The LED's had to have a big old 7 watt resistor in parallel to satisfy the lamp monitor on the computer. I was afraid I'd have to do the same with the fancy new LED tail lights..
