    no control of cabin heat

The heater blows very hot air with no control at all settings. The cabin gets extremely hot. This has the automatic climate control unit in a 1998 528I. Do I have to take it to the dealer for a repair and replacement?

Could this be the final stage unit going bad?

No control of the fan and it occasionally has a mind of it's own. Do you have the ability to change the temp of the air with the center dial?

Re: no control of cabin heat

    One side or both?

Sounds like it is either one defective temp sensor in the heater unit, or more likely a water valve that has either failed or lost the power input (they default to the open position so full flow of coolant)

Valves are on the fender just below the area of the cabin filter.

    Cheers

Both sides, I'll check the water valve. Thank you. Craig Brigham
