Looking for a 18 inch spare wheel/tire for the m5!
can anyone help? im often taking long road-trips, i just changed out all of my m5's tires which were about 5% tread left, im looking for a spare wheel/tire combo that i can just slip in the trunk since the m5 doesn't have run flats on them, and the car doesn't come with a spare...
preferably i would like a m5 clone or original wheel 18 inch with a tire but ill take anything 18 inch of course.. condition doesn't really matter as long as the wheel is straight and not egg shaped..
used/ new/ whatever.. ( i knew i shouldn't have sold the 540 with 2 spares! )

Have you checked out...
...Beast Power. They have a spare tire "kit" that comes with a steel rim (mounted w/ tire), a hub centric spacer, and longer lug bolts. It's $345.95 and you can also order a tool kit with a lug wrench and jack. It looks neat but I wonder if one could find the parts from different sources at a cheaper price (if one wanted to go with a steel rim).

Not makin' a plug for BP; just, sharing some info I found that I thought would be helpful on the subject.
At least a full-size spare would allow you to roll at average interstate highway speeds 'til you got the original tire fixed/replaced.

Re: If you're going to piecemeal this >>
They seem like they have a well stocked inventory for bimmer wheels but they don't list wheel size or offset. You have to really know what you are searching for and what will or won't fit. Have you had any experience with them?

Uncwig, my local dealer always has wheels 4sale(m
I need to stop in and check on a few things with them so I'll see what they have available. A few weeks ago they had some they were selling for $100-200 range. There are generally almost new wheels taken off of cars because the buyer wanted different wheels.
I'll try to stop in tomorrow and see what they have for the E39.

No, just that they only deal with OEM wheels >>
and, just like any other salvage yard, the inventory changes.
But, apparently, they do not deal in aftermarket wheels.
They're pretty savvy: I tried to sell them a set of pristine E12 turbine wheels, and they threw me out; no market for them.
